Dr. Annie Farnsworth

Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director and Founder of Metta

Dr. Farnsworth received her Master’s Degree from Harvard University in Human Development & Psychology and her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont. She trained at the National Center for PTSD and specializes in Trauma-Informed care. She has practiced in Arizona for more than a decade, and has provided teaching and training at the undergrad, graduate, and post graduate level.

Dr. Farnsworth offers a range of evidence-based and scientifically validated clinical services. A long term meditation practitioner, Dr. Farnsworth has expertise in applied Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology.

Dr. Farnsworth also consults with private and public sector organizations both locally and internationally around Resiliency and Trauma mitigation and provides both Professional and Personal Coaching designed to improve the well-being of both high performance leaders and their teams.

Metta is a practice of compassion and loving-kindness and Dr. Farnsworth is grateful to have found a team of gifted, intelligent, experienced and committed doctoral level clinicians who embody these qualities.

Specialties of Dr. Farnsworth and her clinicians include life coaching; couples and family treatment; trauma and complex trauma; adult development across the lifespan; aging; grief; behavioral health; and effective interpersonal and mindfulness-and cognitive-based therapies including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Somatic Therapies, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy AEDP, IFS and couples modalities particularly Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. We also see a limited number of young adults and teenagers.

 A careful assessment is followed by a focus on evidence-based best practices and applying the emerging science of positive psychology to your specific challenges and goals.
